In DBH 3 we are learning a lot about advertising. One interesting point for debate has been that companies don't really sell what they are advertising: they just sell dreams, ilusions in order to create a specific need.
Wikipedia is more accurate, of course, when talking about this topic:
Advertising is a form of communication that typically attempts to persuade potential customers to purchase or to consume more of a particular brand of product or service. Many advertisements are designed to generate increased consumption of those products and services through the creation and reinforcement of "brand image" and "brand loyalty". For these purposes, advertisements sometimes embed their persuasive message with factual information.

OUR FAVOURITE HEALTHY RECIPES
Our studens prepared some really delicious recipes although not all of them were healthy. Endika, from DBH 3 suggested this:
Thai Chicken Balls
INGREDIENTS:
1- In a large bowl, mix together the chicken and bread crumbs and put in the mix a green onion, ground coriander, cilantro, chili sauce and lemon juice, and mix well.
2- With the damp hands, form mixture into evenly shaped balls that are either small enough to eat with your fingers, or to use in burgers.
3- Add oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken balls in the batches, and it is ready to eat.

Healthy living: The Botton Line.
Both DBH 3 & 4 students are preparing healthy recipes that we'll publish in this blog. In DBH 3 we watched a very interesting video suggested by Klaudia, from DBH 4, about how to cook a delicious lasagna. Josune and Ibai prefered Spanish omelette and Nerea macaroni. But is healty eating the only thing we can do for a healthy way of life? Look at the bottom of the Eating Pyramid on your left: daily exercise and weigh control are the basis for a healthy life, don't forget it. More ideas by cliking here.

A healthy diet.
Here we are again, and now that we know how important living in a clean world is, we are going to learn how to have a 'clean' diet. Both DBH 3 & 4 are going to learn about food, diet and healthy life. You already know a lot about it, but now it's time to use that knowledge to improve your English and to use English to improve that knowledge. There we go.

LIGHT POLLUTION
One of the points for our lesson about environment was pollution, but we only talked about 'air pollution'. Here we have information about another point of view regarding pollution, 'Light pollution'. You can also read the whole article 'Our Vanishing Night'.

WE DO CARE ABOUT ENVIRONMENT!!
Although my DBH 4 pupils needed more than an hour to write their opinion about environmental problems, they finally articulated a short text, in the best of the cases, or a paragraph (in the best of the cases too). Here we have their opinions:
- Joseba: 'I agree with the animals protectors because the hunters of wild animals hunt a lot of animals and if they go on killing them, they will disappear.'
- Adrian: 'As I see, the real problem of environment is cars pollution and the rubbish people produce. Cars pollute air a lot and roads break forests, mountains and kill a lot of animals. Then the rubbish we produce pollute land a lot, and therefore plants don't grow, and the water, so they kill a lot of animals.
- Ibai: ' As I see it, the real problem is the hunting of wild animals. I don't agree with hunting wild animals because the hunters hunt animals to earn money or to keep them in their houses. Animals are disappearing and we have to do something, we can't leave this problem, we have to demonstrate against hunters. And the zoos? It is an animal prison; please, demonstrate against hunters.
- Pablo: 'My opinion about cars is negative. I don't agree with cars that don't pass the exams of air pollution, because if no one passes this tests air pollution will go sky high and there will be more problems. As I see it, cars should be more ecological for the environment, because if we don't do that environment will be in a serious situation and the world can extinguish.'
- Edurne:
1) 'I think world's environment is in crisis, like our economy. It is very important for all living things and particularly for me, I'm afraid that we can destroy the world in a very short time.'2) 'I think that isn't as important as in USA or UK. In lots of countries like those they have a very big problem but in our country isn't extremely problematic, but I agree with some ecological groups: we have to start thinking and doing something now because if we don't we can become a very dangerous country for our planet like UK, USA...'3) 'It doesn't bother me a lot because I can't drive cars yet. But I can say this for adults and car drivers: cars are very practical and very useful for anybody in this country but we can pollute less if we use public transport like the bus, underground or trains. And of course we shouldn't use car to do things that we can do without it or doing stupid things.'4) 'Helping to protect wildlife is important too because they're innocent animals and plants. They're very special for our planet because we're destroying sorts of animals and plants every week. They're like us, and they don't deserve to die.'5) 'As I see it, the real problem is hunting. It's horrible and unfair, I can't argue about this because is cruel for living wildlife. I could't care more about it becouse it's a very important fact if we want to look after our planet.' - Nerea: CARS: 'As I see it, the real problem are cars. They pollute a lot because they use fuel and this is bad for environment.
Nowadays we pollute more, because now everybody has a car.'
HUNTING WILD ANIMALS:
'I reckon the main problem is hunting wild animals. I don't understand how people can hunt them, because this animals will disappear and hunters won't be able to hunt or even see them any more.'

DBH 4: DO WE REALLY CARE ABOUT ENVIRONMENT?
We started Unit 2 last Monday and all of us agreed that caring about environment is important but not enough, we must become real eco-warriors. There are a lot of ways to do it but, for a start, you are going to send me your ideas about the topics listed below. I will publish them in this blog so that all students or teachers can write a comment or show agreement or disagreement and finally we will have a debate in class. These are the topics:
- The world's envirenoment.
- Environmental problems in our country.
- Cars.
- Helping to protect wildlife.
- Hunting wild animals.

DBH 4: ARGUMENTANDO
Esperamos vuestro comentario esclarecedor, chicas.

DBH 4: MY FAVOURITE SPORT
Hi DBH 4,
Did you write your descriptions about your favourite sports? Remember that you don't need to write an exhaustive essay about the sport you chose but something easy and short. You can use images or videos so that readers understand you better.

DBH4 - LENGUA
